HB 2596 passes…

Well, crap, the state senate passed HB 2596, which will further enable timber corporations to sue non-violent protestors for lost profit. We are sorry to say that Eugene’s Senator Prozanski voted yes! Next stop Governor Kitzhaber’s desk, and we already know how he feels about logging on state lands. Thanks to all who tried to stop this law. Your support gives us courage to keep fighting.

“Why does the timber industry, who stops at nothing, need more laws to protect themselves? They are in a business for profit, not a person, and deserve no more special legal shields.”- Barbara Shamet, land owner, Allegany, OR
